Second Hand Sales

Is anyone looking at the Second Hand Sales page on the website?

I am thinking it would be more efficient and easier to simply post up Second Hand items for sale on the Club Facebook site

Any comments welcome

Sunday Club Road rides

Another quick survey

I know we have a busy month ahead with two Cyclecross races and the Club Championships but I would like to gauge what level of interest there is for resuming the Sunday Club Rides in October. These rides have traditionally been for riders 12 and over with parental permission. Please let me know if you or your son or daughter is keen to participate. I am especially keen to know if any younger riders you have not previously joined us on Sundays would like to come along. Parents are encouraged to join in!

We commonly meet at the track ready to leave at 10.00am for a two hour ride though note that we commonly return at 12.30 or after. There will be no charge  but the nature of these rides is that a higher level of self-sufficiency is required. Thus there should be no new participants without prior agreement. Similarly these are club rides and not coaching sessions, so will aim to be more continuous ride, with limited stopping.

Happy to answer any questions

Please email me at charlie@ppycc.org.uk

Thanks

South East Go-Race Team Finals Report

Yesterday Cyclopark hosted the South Sast Regional Go-Race Team Final organised by the British Cycling regional team. All the riders from ten teams competed over four races – time trial, skills race and sprint eliminator over a range of terrains.

Our team did really well and finished 3rd in the Skills race which is a great reflection of the high level of bike handling skills our riders have. Additionally, Xavier finished 3rd in the group 2 sprint eliminator. After thrills and more than a few spills and incidents ( hope your’re not too sore today Oscar ! ) our team finished 7th overall. This is a great result given the mechanicals and crashes the team suffered.

Well done William, Jake, Aidan, Xavier, Oscar, Luke, Raphael, George and Alex you should all be very proud of your performances on parcour quite different to what we’re used to.

Inner AND Outer Ring this weekend 23rd Sept.

Both the Inner and Outer Ring sessions will be running as normal this weekend. As we  have our annual Club Championships coming up next weekend at Cyclopark, Gravesend, this week we will be focusing on group riding in both sessions, in addition there will be some endurance training for the Outer Ring.

Please ensure you come with warm layers and a waterproof jacket, the current forecast shows some showers around 11ish, with luck they will bypass Brighton and leave us dry, but always best to be prepared!

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow!

For those who have already signed up as volunteers for our first Cycle-cross race on Sunday 1st October read here to find out where you have been allocated. We will send out more information and precise duties next week.

We still need lots of people to set up, to marshal the afternoon, and one other person to join each of the Recording laps teams. One person for the Signing On teams. Also Catering probably needs some help.

Help required for the PPYCC cross races

A long message, please persevere

Our biggest race event of the year, in organisational terms, is our cycle-cross race and this year we again have two! Our club has faced a tenfold increase in its ongoing costs of track hire and our cross races give us the potential to cover all our track hire fees for the coming season but, we can only run them with a strong support from our members and their families.

The first race take place on Sunday 1st October at Happy Valley in Woodingdean and the second Sunday 29th October  at a new venue we have yet to find [please let us know if you have any ideas]. They are part of the London League Cyclo-Cross series and includes races for adults and youths and beginners.

The day of racing is quite a commitment and we request that our members from Outer Ring either enter the race, help with the organisation or cheer on the participants at the very least. It is possible to do all three.

Parents, members and others who can help are asked to indicate their availability [and job role if there is a preference] by contacting anthony@ppycc.org.uk and identifying which slot/s they are available from the table below. Those that I remember have offered their help already are indicated in the table at the foot of this message.

Inner Ring Sat 16th

Tomorrow mornings Inner Ring session will focus on co-ordination skills.

It’s forecast to be cool, 10-11 degrees, tomorrow morning so please dress appropriately. Also please can parents and riders check that tires are inflated correctly and bikes have been M-checked to avoid any delays to starting the session.

Two hoodies, purple and blue were left on the grass last week. I’ll bring these with me in the morning.

PPYCC Circuit Championships (aka Cyclopark Autumn Classic) 30th September 2017

As previously posted we are hosting a new race at Cyclopark that incorporates the PPYCC annual circuit race championships – Cyclopark Autumn Classic on 30th September. To improve the circuit options for the different age groups this year we have secured the whole 2.9km circuit from 12 – 5 pm and will use various circuit length combinations for the different age categories.

Entry for the event is now live on British Cycling:

https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/166497/Cyclopark-Autumn-Classic

We hope to see as many of our riders competing as possible so please enter online, although we will also have entry in the day.

For those riders new to racing you need to enter the youth age group displayed on your licence. If you are unsure which age category to enter British Cycling Youth racing is split into the following age categories :

Youth A U16 born 2001 or 2002
Youth B U14 born 2003 or 2004
Youth C U12 born 2005 or 2006
Youth D U10 born 2007 or 2008
