We have a variety of membership options but our most common are for youth members who attend our coaching sessions, with membership reductions for siblings. We also welcome adult and family members who are not part of our youth coached membership but would welcome the chance to join a family friendly club.
Membership runs from March each year, which is the start of our club season and all memberships run from March 1st for one year. Anyone applying for membership from Sept 1st onwards only needs to pay 50% fees for a half year membership.
Step 1: Attend a taster session
The club holds introductory sessions for prospective members. These are typically held every few months on a Saturday morning and allow groups of prospective members to give the club a try and decide if they would like to become a regular member.
We do not operate a waiting list. Taster sessions are advertised on our website and social media, so you can either subscribe to our website news feed or follow us on Facebook or Twitter and look out for notifications which will contain a link to a booking page. Bookings are then made on a first come, first served basis.
We accept new members from the year of their 8th birthday and they must be able to ride their bike without stabilisers.
Please email membership@ppycc.org.uk for further information.
Taster sessions are free of charge.
Step 2: Join British Cycling
All members need join the National Governing Body, British Cycling, as membership includes personal liability insurance which we consider a necessary benefit of membership. If joining as a non-cycling member then you can join as a British Cycling fan, otherwise choose the membership option to suit your riding. See membership options at www.britishcycling.org.uk/membership
British Cycling membership is free for new members for the first year.
Step 3: Join Preston Park Youth CC
New members may join once they have received a membership invitation following participation in a taster session. Upon invitation to become a club member please:
- Go to our British Cycling club membership page
- Join the club and make your membership payment.
Annual membership fees must be paid by 1st March each year:
- £15 – Individual member
- £5 – Additional family member (siblings or adults)
- £5 – Second claim member
- FREE – adult membership for club coaches and committee members
“Second Claim Member” should be selected if you are already a member of a different cycling club, and wish to also join PPYCC in order to attend club sessions, rides and events. Please note that if you enter races, the race organiser may have rules specifying that you race for your “first claim” club, however we are happy for our second claim members to race for PPYCC if event rules allow and if that is what you wish!
Saturday coached sessions are £4 per rider, payable on the day by card or cash. Club membership is required for insurance purposes to join in the session, however trial members are covered by our club insurance while they are deciding whether to join.
Remember to ensure that you have also joined British Cycling, this forms part of your PPYCC membership requirement.
If membership costs are a barrier to your participation then please do contact membership@ppycc.org.uk to discuss further and we will come to an arrangement that works for you.
Step 4: Renew your PPYCC membership
Current members will need to join at the beginning of each season to take part in club activities.
To renew your membership please:
- Go to our British Cycling club membership page
- Renew your membership and make your payment.
IMPORTANT: In 2023 we are realigning all memberships to run from March 1st every year which will make renewal administration much easier for our club officials. Please see the following post for more information. https://www.ppycc.org.uk/news/membership-changes-for-2023/
Remember to also renew your British Cycling membership.
