AGM and Awards this Saturday!

Just a final note on the AGM and Awards for this Saturday. We are aiming for the AGM part to just take about 20 minutes, this will include reports from the Chair and Treasurer followed by the election of committee members. We recognise that this is the boring bit for younger members so we will aim to rattle through it pretty quickly.

The three Officer roles being elected are Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. All existing officers (Mark Aberdour, Paul Goodwill and Richard Scarrott respectively) are standing for re-election. The additional Management Committee roles are Membership Secretary, Welfare Office and Deputy Welfare Officer. Daisy Leitch is standing for re-election in the Membership role and Helen Clarke and Claire Wheller are kindly standing for the Welfare roles. If anyone else is interested in standing for any role, please do put yourself forward and feel free to let one of the existing committee members know if you’d like an informal chat, it is fine for a role to have multiple nominations.

Following the election we have a variety of fun activities and presentations led by various members of the coaching and volunteering team.

Certificate presentations – all riders who participated in a Saturday morning distance challenge or 1-lap time trial will receive a certificate with their fastest time for the year. For anyone who cannot make it along, we will post your certificate to you following the meeting.

Quiz – Paul Wheller will test your cycling knowledge and prizes will be won!

Updates from the coaching team about achievements beyond the track such as regional and national race performances from our members plus news about upcoming winter road rides and off-road sessions.

Raffle – Tickets are £1 each or £5 a strip, which you can either buy on Saturday morning at the track session or at the AGM. There are prizes galore including cycling kit, bike accessories and vouchers.

Awards presentation with over 40 medals to give out and 10+ trophies and shields for coaches award, club order of merit, club rider award, best club performance plus a new category of awards to recognise the amazing achievements of our riders in regional and national races this season. We are very pleased to have two of our country’s brightest young pro riders presenting the awards – Olly Moors from Ribble Weldtite and newly-crowned national champion Anna Henderson from Jumbo-Vizma!

Don’t forget we have the kit shop with brand new PPYCC club kit, some old PPYCC stock going cheap and plenty of second hand gear. And of course we’ll have a well stocked kitchen for all your tea and cake needs. Please do consider donating a homemade cake if you are able, please just bring it with you on the day.

All proceeds raised from the raffle, club kit and kitchen will go to the club. If you have a bike for sale, you’re welcome to bring it along and find a space for it, but please be aware that the club cannot take responsibility for the security of bikes for sale.

One final, important note. Due to covid-safety we are mindful of not crowding too many people into one room so we would ask that just one parent/adult attends per member, and that face coverings are worn where possible. We will also ensure the venue is well ventilated. For those unable to attend, our own ‘Pixel Pete’ will be taking photos of the presentations so you’ll be able to catchup online later.

We look forward to see you on Saturday!
