How to progress in youth cycling

We recently received a message from Iain Cook the Great Britain Cycling Team Foundation  Coach.

The message that went out to riders at the last circuit RSR is that they should be aiming to race once a week (or up to 2 times a week).  This regular racing is important to their learning and development, most of it will be fairly stress free local racing and should be fun and motivating too.  For riders who also race track or mountain-biking (these could count as their 1 race a week) they should be looking to do a circuit race at least once a month too.  All of the regions midweek racing series are now up and running, so it shouldn’t be too big a journey for anyone:

Mondays: Angering, Sussex

Tuesdays: Crystal Palace, South London or Goodwood, Sussex

Wednesdays: Herne Hill (Track), Preston Park (Track – starts 18/5)

Fridays: Cyclopark, Kent
