The 1st Youth Omnium at Bournemouth last Saturday saw a damp track after rain early morning, and riders had to wait for the track to dry out before safe racing could commence, with a delayed start of 2.5 hours. Further rain later in the day meant that the full programme was curtailed after 3, of a scheduled 5, events. However, there was exciting racing and strong competition in all age categories to give results in the time allowed.
Riding for PPYCC, Luke Goodwill in Youth D rode in his first omnium, and gained great experience about position and tactics, finishing 8th overall. Samuel Jaques came 11th in Youth C. Izzy Stone and Olivia Chadwick rode in a very strong, competitive and large Youth A girls group, with Izzy gaining 10th, and Olivia 14th, place overall.
Riding for VC Jubilee, PPYCC’s sister club, Archie Sloan came 4th in Youth C whilst George Sloan finished 3rd in Youth B. Nick Gill, formerly a PPYCC member, riding for Sutton Cycling Club, gained 9th in Youth A.
