The 2020 Season

Happy 2020 ! Hope you’ve all had a good Christmas and have been riding your bikes since the club sessions finished. The cyclocross season is drawing to an end with National Championships next weekend and just a couple of London-South East cross events remaining. And so we now look forwards to the 2020 road and track season !

What ever your goals for training and racing there are lots of opportunities , and starting soon.

Training Sessions:

British Cycling South East website is a great location for information on circuit and track training sessions. Additionally, March will soon be here and the club sessions will be starting again. In the meantime keep riding and having fun on your bikes whenever you can.

Closed Road/Circuit Races:

There are race series at Redbridge, Hillingdon and Lee Valley all starting 1st February with the first race at Redbridge.

There’s a great series of go-race events for those newer to racing starting 19th January at Redbridge.  Entries and details via British Cycling website.

For Youth A&B riders there is a road race series at Preston Park track run by SCRL , first race 23rd February. Entry and details via British Cycling website.

More regional closed circuit races will open for entry over coming weeks. The easiest way to keep an eye out for races is to check weekly on the British Cycling website.

National Youth Circuit Series dates have been posted on British Cycling website. These are primarily for boys/girls u14 & u16 age categories but there are also some supporting races for u12s. We are lucky enough to have 3 rounds in the South this year at Hillingdon, a 2 day race at Cyclopark and the National Youth Circuit Champs at Redbridge.

Track:

Regional cluster and development centres continue on Sunday mornings at Lee Valley. These are high quality sessions for those new to indoor track riding looking to gain accreditation and those more experienced looking to move
onto RSRs in future years. See British Cycling South East website for details for session dates.

For those accredited u12-Junior riders London Youth Track League has 4 remaining dates in 2020. Details on London Youth Track League website and entry via British Cycling website.

There are changes to Regional Omniums this year with the group format being dropped and instead there are a series of National qualifying events across 6 weekends starting end of March through to June. Unfortunately there is no round at Preston Park this year due to date clashes. Dates of the qualifying events are posted in the British Cycling website and we’d encourage all our riders to consider entering events where possible.

Our local SCRL track league will then be starting at Preston Park in April. Spring will soon be here.

Happy riding
