Unfortunately, due to the (very un-spring like) weather, SCRL have had to cancel the Youth and Senior racing at Preston Park Velodrome tomorrow morning, Sunday 18th March 2018.
The next SCRL closed circuit races are due to be held next Sunday, 25th March, https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/?series_id=601by which time we hope the weather has remembered it is officially spring!
There is still time to cancel this morning’s session due to potentially sever weather.
In the absence of cancellation [watch this space] we ask riders to bring a pair of trainers so that they can take part in setting new bench marks for the passage of the Brighton bike share bikes for one lap of Preston Park.
If you see this message too late, not to worry there are other activities to try and stay warm.
Both Inner and Outer Ring sessions will be running this Saturday, apologies to those who may have missed our first session of the season last week, a post was sent out, but owing to an issue with the system, it didn’t appear to arrive in many people’s in boxes.

BHT’s Around the World Cycle Challenge 2018 is a family friendly event taking place the Preston Park Velodrome, the oldest in the country.
This extraordinary challenge starts at 7am and runs throughout the day, with cyclists aiming to reach the combined target of 69,215 laps (equating to cycling 40,075km around the world) in just 12 hours!
Laps can be completed in one session or over a number of sessions throughout the day and there are designated slots for families and club cyclists.
The Living Coast rides are more of a physical challenge, with rides of 30 and 58 miles through the world-class environment on our doorstep, recognised by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Region.
The route of the Classic ride (58 miles) is very similar to last year Brighton Mayor’s ride. It is slightly longer due to starting and finishing in the velodrome at Preston Park and a few other minor tweaks we’ve had to make.
New for 2018, we’ve created a 30 mile ride (Devil’s Dyke Loop) for those less confident of managing 58 miles.
With ex-members Felix English racing in the Track World Championships [on your TV this weekend] and Izzy Stone, our recent title banner photo, set to return to Belgium this season, we are pleased to announce that another PPYCC looks set to move up to the international stage in the coming seasons.
