Staying Active during Lockdown

British Cycling has cancelled all authorised cycling activity until the 4th July. However this does not mean you cannot ride your bike, provided you do so safely and follow the government’s guidelines on exercising and social distancing.

British Cycling Coronavirus FAQs (updated 27 May)

Here are some ideas for how you might like to remain active in the coming weeks and months. We’d love to see what you’ve been up to, if you are on social media then please share your photos or videos and tag us on Instagram (@ppycc2016), Facebook (@PPYCC) or Twitter (@PrestonParkYCC).

PPYCC Zwift Sessions (all ages)

For those missing Wednesday racing at the track we are running PPYCC Zwift group rides every Wednesday afternoon at 4pm. The rides are organised by a PPYCC youth rider and will initially be no drop group rides with the ‘keep everyone together’ tab activated. All PPYCC and VC Jubilee youth riders are invited.

Remember Zwift is free for under 16 year olds. Riders who are interested please email PPYCC coach and Noah will set you up.

PPYCC monthly challenge

There are many things you can do to keep practicing bike skills during lockdown, so we are running challenges throughout this period and invite you to share your results with the club! See our Lockdown Challenge for May.

Ride the rollers (all ages)

PPYCC have a number of rollers and a few turbos that we can loan for free to club members while we are in this challenging period. They will all need returning when the racing season resumes as we normally keep them at the track so our riders can warm up and warm down at SCRL track league on Wednesday nights. We currently have 6 rollers and 2 turbos which are all adjustable to fit junior-sized bikes. Note that roller riding is a skill which takes time and patience to learn, however it is a great skill to master, is good fun and fantastic for developing balance and pedalling style.

Email to check availability if you would like to borrow one of these.
