Girls Focus Club

PPYCC is a British Cycling Go Ride Focus Club for girls’ cycling. This means we are on a mission to get more girls on bikes and have received funding to make this happen.

To encourage more girls to give cycling a go, we are launching a free girls-only taster programme starting on Saturday 18 April. The sessions will run for 4 weeks, every Saturday morning from 9.30–10.30am, and are aimed specifically at girls aged 8–15. These sessions are all about having fun, building confidence and enjoying cycling in a relaxed, no-pressure setting.

Cycling helps build confidence, independence and resilience, while encouraging an active lifestyle and a love for the outdoors. At Preston Park Youth Cycling Club, the focus is on enjoyment first — learning new skills, making friends and feeling comfortable on a bike in a supportive environment.

We cater for young riders from the year of their 8th birthday up until 16 years old. We welcome new members from beginners (they must be able to ride their bike without stabilisers) through to more confident cyclists who may want to develop their skills further or try racing in the future. We also offer bike loans, for anyone that wants to join but doesn’t have their own bike.

Girls don’t need any previous cycling experience to take part — just the ability to ride a bike and an interest in trying something new. Whether they want to improve bike control, learn basic skills, or simply enjoy riding with other girls their age, these taster sessions are a great way to start. Friendly coaches and volunteers will be on hand to support every rider and help them feel welcome.

Following the taster sessions, we’d love the girls to join the club and attend our regular Saturday morning sessions.
