Good luck to Lukas Nerurkar riding the Vuelta

We’re absolutely thrilled that Lukas Nerurkar (third rider from left in the above photo from 2018), who began his cycling journey as a youth rider with PPYCC, today starts the 2025 Vuelta a España, riding with EF Education–EasyPost.
Lukas’s cycling story began with PPYCC as an Under‑10 rider. He showed early promise on the track and even joined a PPYCC everesting attempt on Ditchling Beacon at just 13 years old. However, Lukas was never one of those riders who dominated their age category in those early years of racing, instead quietly developing his passion for bike racing and progressing in a steady and measured manner. Lukas continued a well worn path through all of the youth categories at PPYCC, before moving on to race for a junior team, and then onto the UK domestic scene and eventually into the World Tour ranks. Just this season, Lukas wrote an insightful blog post for PPYCC about his journey as a youth rider, which is full of excellent advice and well worth a read by any budding young riders out there looking to follow in his footsteps.

Lukas’s achievements as an U23 pro rider have been celebrated many times on our website and socials. These include stage wins at the Giro Next Gen (Baby Giro), the Orlen Nations Grand Prix, and the Young Riders’ overall jersey at O Gran Camiño, where he stood on the podium alongside Jonas Vingegaard. His results continued to impress in 2025, with a 3rd place on Stage 3 at the Critérium du Dauphiné, marking his first WorldTour podium .
Lukas has continued to be a great friend to the club and supporter to our youth riders. Many of our youngsters were presented with their end of season trophies and certificates when Lukas joined us at our AGM; some are still proudly riding around in his donated Trinity Racing and Team GB kit; others have his framed jerseys on their walls!
Lukas’ selection for the 2025 Vuelta marks a tremendous milestone not just in his own journey, but also for our club. Our past members have had many successes, but Lukas is our first Grand Tour rider, and we couldn’t be prouder to call him one of our own. As the Vuelta starts today, we wish Lukas every success. He’ll be tackling 21 stages across 3,180 km from 23 August to 14 September 2025. Be sure to follow the race and cheer him on as he represents PPYCC on the Grand Tour stage!
