PPYCC Hill Climb results
Well done to everyone who rode the 4th annual PPYCC hill climb at Rottingdean. This growing event had upwards of 50 young riders competing from across the South East and most major clubs in the region had riders competing, which was fantastic to see. We were really impressed with how every single rider put in a huge performance!
Apologies for the delay getting the full results out, it’s been a busy few weeks for the team! You can now view the final results by age category and by overall time. A selection of photos are also below. The full photo library has been shared with the parents/carers of the registered riders and we’ll also post a further selection to social media.
We’d like to say a big thanks to event co-organisers Kevin and Jess, and also to PPYCC’s amazing army of volunteers who marshalled, escorted riders, recorded times, swept the road and everything else, we really couldn’t do these events without you!
We are pleased to have supported the Le Col South Downs Hill Climb Series again this year, with our dedicated youth event kicking off the series. The top 12 fastest times at our event have all gained overall series points. Riders aged 12+ were able to compete throughout the series, so shout outs to Reuben Gutman and Raphael Vesey-Holt who have been doing exactly that and putting in some great times. Ex-PPYCC rider and volunteer Francis Schofield, now riding with Cambridge University CC, has also had some excellent high placings. While not part of the South Downs series, kudos also goes to Jack Patten and Cooper Aberdour who rode to 1st and 3rd youth places respectively at the prestigious Catford CC Hill Climb near Sevenoaks against a very strong field (with Francis also coming a very impressive 16th overall against some of the country’s best hill climbers).
The final climb of the South Downs series is on Sunday 19th October at Ditchling Beacon on a closed road, entries close at midnight on Wednesday. Because this event is on a closed road, it is open to youth riders of all ages, so we encourage as many PPYCC riders as possible to enter. The organisers have also committed that every youth rider who attends is guaranteed a cash prize! Sign up here, by midnight on Wednesday at the latest.
