PPYCC off-road season extension

PPYCC is going off-road after the track season finishes this year! We lost 15 weeks of Saturday sessions due to lockdown and are keen to make up some of that lost time. Unfortunately we can’t extend the season safely at the velodrome, it doesn’t have an all-weather surface and the moss that builds up in the wetter months makes it unsuitable for running safe coaching activities, so this year the coaching team have decided to extend the season by going off-road.

These sessions will all take place at Stanmer Park on Saturday mornings and will cater for all age groups so both Inner Ring and Outer Ring riders are welcome. The park is on the outskirts of Brighton and very easy to reach from both the A23 and A27 for those coming in from the surrounding area, and with good cycle route access for those who want to ride there from central Brighton. These sessions will be outdoor, coached club activities and will use pre-determined and risk-assessed areas within the Park. This means the sessions will fall within the sporting activities permitted to take place by the Government, in the same way our activity at the track does. Obviously the Covid situation is changing week by week, but current Government advice is that outdoor coached activities currently permitted will be able to continue at every stage of the new three-tier alert level system. Of course we will communicate to our members if this situation changes.

Full details including times, meeting points and Eventbrite registration links will follow but for now, please save the following Saturday morning dates if you are interested. The park has a variety of terrain such as woodland, open parkland and scrub, and while most bikes will be able to handle the terrain, knobbly tyres will be essential.
