Regional Youth Track Omnium, London,Round 2

Luke Goodwill, U12 and Lukas Nerurkar, U14, rode in the second round of the London Regional Omnium last weekend, hosted by Welwyn Wheelers. Both boys rode brilliantly in large groups, each competing in 5 races throughout the day, with Luke finishing 7th and Lukas finishing 5th overall. This weekend Tom Pugh Morgan, Finn Anderson Grout, Adam Churchill, Luca Stone, Rahul Fortescue Talwar, Dylan Hicks, Freddie Newman, Josh Golliker and Seb and Louis Boulton  all compete in the 2nd round of the South Regional Omnium at Bournemouth. Good luck!

Good wood

PPYCC riders have been racing at Goodwood for the last two weeks, last week Josh Ballinger came 3rd in the U14’s. This week saw a good turnout for PPYCC, with Lloyd Costello, Finn Anderson, Tom Pughe-Morgan, Luca Stone and James Gilmore all competing in the U16’s, and Josh Ballinger in the U14’s. Well done to both Finn and to Josh on 1st places!!

Some great pictures of the evening’s racing below, thanks to dads John Ballinger and Stephen Anderson!

Spring in the Park 1 and 2       The first week of the 10 week Spring in the Park series at Cyclopark Kent saw a win for Luke Goodwill in the U12’s and 2nd and 3rd place for Rahul and Freddie Newman in the U14’s. PPYCC had great representation in the U16’s, a large and fast group, with Adam Churchill , George Pittock (second claim), Tom Pughe-Morgan, Joseph Martin,  Luca Stone and James Gilmore all finishing in a bunch sprint after a demanding race.

The second evening was another good one for for PPYCC at Gravesend. Two second places in U12-Luke Goodwill-and U14-Freddie Newman- with Dylan Hicks 4th and Josh Ballinger 8th – scoring his first BC points of the season – also in the U14’s.  Joseph Martin managed to get off the front with Tom Pughe Morgan in the U16s – and they made it stick, working 3 or 4 laps together.  Tom wasn’t able to stick with it unfortunately, but Jojo stayed away for another 10 laps, almost lapping the field in the end.  Good victory! James Gilmore and Luca Stone also finished well in the U16’s, improving their placings this week.

Giro d’Betteshanger George was 2nd at the Giro d’Betteshanger in East Kent on Saturday 6th May, about a bike length behind the winner Liam Hanks of Barking & Dagenham CC.

Omega Track Series  Alfie Bunyan had a mixed bag in the Omega Track series #2 at Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth last Saturday.  With just the three of them in the U12 group (two boys and one girl) and a fair bit of wind, it was easy to slip off a wheel and more difficult to get back on.  Second places in the sprint and the dash, and a win in his handicap race were tempered by third place in the other races, though sensibly conserving energy when “all was lost”.  Well done Alfie! Meet #3 is on Saturday 3rd June.

Well done to all our riders and GOOD LUCK in your forthcoming races!!
