Track practice and accreditation during May

On Saturday 8th and 15th May, Outer Ring will be on track bikes. This will allow us the opportunity to get another set of riders track-accredited ahead of the Omnium on 23rd May. If you already have accreditation then we need you to turn up and ride to help those new to track racing, but also to get some practice in yourself on the track bike. The session is intended to be accessible to all riders who enjoy riding their bike, whether interested in track racing or not.

We currently have 5 known riders awaiting accreditation for May, and have emailed their parents directly to confirm attendance. Anyone else – Inner Ring or Outer Ring – wishing to gain accreditation then please email chair@ppycc.org.uk so we know what numbers to expect.

All riders, if you need a loan track bike then please arrive before 10.00 on Saturday to collect one. Members and parents should stay away from the containers as we cannot practice social distancing there, so the loan bikes will be out on the grass and will need sanitising (wiping down) by riders at the start and end of their session.

The aim of the accreditation process is to ensure the safety of the rider and others taking part in the races. You can read more about the criteria in this document from the Sussex Cycle Racing League (SCRL) website. All riders should be aware of these fundamentals and ensure that they adhere to them when racing. The league retains the right to request any rider racing in the league to cease racing and retake their accreditation if they are judged to be a danger to themselves or other riders.

Once accredited, riders are then eligible to race at both the Omnium event on 23rd May and the SCRL Wednesday night league. We would encourage anyone interested in the Omnium to get along on Wednesday nights during May to get some good quality track racing in before the 23rd.
