A friendly, inclusive race experience for young people aged 6–16
Join us for an exciting morning of youth multisport at one of Sussex’s most historic sporting venues!
PPYCC and Brighton Multisport proudly present the Preston Park Youth Duathlon, a fun and inclusive run–bike–run event held entirely within the safety of the Preston Park Velodrome in Brighton.
Whether your child is new to multisport or a seasoned competitor, this event offers a supportive and family-friendly atmosphere with age-appropriate courses and full event timing. It’s also part of the KidstriUK Sussex Series, giving competitors a chance to earn points toward the regional rankings.

Event Details
- Date: Saturday 4th October 2025
- Venue: Preston Park Velodrome, Brighton BN1 6LA
- Time: Registration opens 10:00am, first race 11:00am
- Age groups: 6–16 years (based on age at 31 Dec 2025)
- Entry fee: £22 (U10) / £27.50 (11+)
- Entry deadline: Wednesday 1st October 2025
Race Format
All races are run–bike–run duathlons with distances set by age category. Races use a traffic-free circuit and are timed using chip timing.
Race categories include:
- Novice 1 / 2 (for new participants)
- TriStart & TriStar 1–3
- Youth (15–16 years)
Distances are aligned with British Triathlon guidelines for Duathlon. Exact distances will vary slightly.

A historic and family-friendly venue
The event takes place entirely within the safe, enclosed grounds of Preston Park Velodrome, with excellent viewing for parents and supporters.
Built in 1877, Preston Park Velodrome is the oldest working velodrome in the world. The centre field and cricket oval host the run course, while the bike legs are ridden on a combination of the smooth cycling track and grass field.
With 63 acres of surrounding parkland, a large playground, gardens and cafes, there’s something for the whole family. Why not bring a picnic or make a day of it and explore Brighton afterwards?

This race is included in the KidstriUK Sussex Race Series 2025 and points from this race will count toward the overall series standing.

How to register
Equipment & safety notes
Any roadworthy bike is acceptable — including mountain bikes or hybrids.
Helmets are compulsory.
No specialist clothing is required (shorts and t-shirt are fine). Elastic laces and race belts are helpful for quicker transitions.
No parental assistance is allowed in transitions (except youngest groups at marshal’s discretion).
Lap counting will be the responsibility of participants (helpers can assist).
This event will run under a British Triathlon permit and follow all relevant safeguarding and race safety rules. A Triathlon England Technical Official will be on site.
