Coming up this Saturday 2nd January

We are riding at Leith Hill in Surrey on Saturday, there is plenty of information below but if you want further details phone Anthony on 07757284814. We have been invited by member Thomas Burnett and Thomas’ dad Phis says…..

“I suggest we meet in the car park opposite the Plough pub in Coldharbour which is on top of Leith Hill [click link for map].

“I suggest you come up the A23 and exit at Pease Pottage onto the A264 and then the A24 towards Dorking. After Capel (where you come onto a dual carriageway) take a left onto Cole’s Lane towards Ockley, go to the end and turn right onto the A29 and then first left Broome Hall Road which you follow to the top where you go straight on past the church (on your left) and into Coldharbour where you will see The Plough.

If roads are very icy an alternative is to continue on the A24 as far as Dorking where you turn left at the roundabout onto the Horsham Road, follow this into the town until you hit a one-way system which you join and then turn immediately left and then right onto Coldharbour Lane which take you up Leith Hill to The Plough.

The riding is a mixture of quite technical singletrack and wider bridleways and byways, also plenty of (optional) bomb holes and drop offs. We will probably do a loop which would probably take 1 1/2 hours with the option of a cup of tea by Leith Hill tower (highest point in southern England and a great view back to the South Downs). There are also prepared singletrack circuits which could be ridden several times and are not far from where we will be parking.

Forecast at the moment is for cold weather with a chance of light snow.

Cory’s dad Mark Anderson’s has suggested stopping for some lunch in the pub afterwards, we would certainly be happy to do that. I’d strongly suggest everyone brings along a change of clothes, we’ve had a fair bit of rain so it will be a bit muddy.”
