World Track Championships at the Lee Valley Olympic Park this week

World Track Championships at the Lee Valley Olympic Park this week sees racing on BBC tv from Wednesday through to Sunday. Ex-PPYCC member Felix English will be racing for Ireland and many current members and their families have bought tickets.

We would love to hear your reports from the racing and just to know if you are there. Please email anthony@ppycc.org.uk with your name and the sessions you are attending and we will put out a post so you can look out for your club team mates at the velodrome.

In Olympic year the results from the Worlds hold special significance and so we hope to see many British wins [and a couple of Irish too].

BBC Coverage [and times below]

Watch and listen to live BBC TV and radio coverage of the UCI Track Cycling World Championships as Britain’s finest take on the world’s best at the Lee Valley VeloPark in London from 2-6 March.

Sir Bradley Wiggins is the star turn at the velodrome where Great Britain swept all before them at London 2012. After winning the Tour de France and Olympic gold in 2012, Wiggins is concentrating his efforts on the team pursuit for Rio 2016, and goes for the world title on Thursday.

Friday sees the women’s pursuit squad go for gold. The team – led by Laura Trott – won pursuit gold in this same velodrome at London 2012. Standing in the way of Trott and her team is a formidable Australian team – the current world record holders.

On Saturday, three-time Olympic gold medallist Jason Kenny faces France’s Gregory Bauge as he goes for his first individual sprint world title since 2011.

The women’s omnium, the event made famous by Trott, and the madison, which will feature Wiggins and Mark Cavendish, round off the week’s racing on Sunday.
