PPYCC Family Friendly Weekend Cycle Ride on the South Downs Way Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th June –
Following last year’s successful trip to Eastbourne, staying in Alfriston, we want to doa family-friendly cycle ride westwards on the South Downs Way starting near Brighton on Saturday morning and returning to Brighton Sunday afternoon. We will spend a night at Gumber Bothy camping barn on the way [http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/southdowns/site.asp?PageId=40&SiteId=214&c=12] . You can unroll your sleeping bag in the barn (we have booked a big room) or if you prefer a bit of privacy and luxury you can bring your own tent! All members of family encouraged including those who don’t get out much! e.g. not-very-fit Mums like me, plus our 5 year old is doing it on a tag bike. The South Downs Way is mostly traffic free. What it will costThe camping barn/ campsite is £10 for adults and £5 for children. There will be an additional contribution towards cornflakes and stuff for breakfast, plus delivery of our stuff (there is no vehicle access to the bothy) – around £5 per person. You will also need your train fare home, or we could all chip in for a big lemon bus (!)
